Information of China Mountain Hengshan

Mt. Hengshan(衡山), found in Hengyang City in Hunan Province, is one of the famous mountains Wuyue (a collective name given to five famous mountains in China: Hengshan恒山 in Shanxin Province, Huashan in Shaanxi Province, Songshan in Henan Province, Taishan in Shandong Province, Hengshan衡山 in Hunan Province). Refered as Nanyue, Mt Hengshan in hunan Province is composed of 72 peaks and numerous hundreds years old trees. The scenic area is also a well known and hallowed Buddhist ground. It has abundant temples including nunneries and Taoist temples. The most notable and largest one is the Nanyue Damiao , which was originally built in the Tang Dynasty (618-907), and later was renovated imitating the design of the Forbidden City in Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). Here you can enjoy blooming flowers in spring, prevent sunstroke in summer, watch sunrises in autumn and enjoy the beautiful prospect of snow in winter. From Changsha to Nanyue (Mt. Hengshan)
Way 1
Take Railway from Changsha Railway Station until Hengshan Railway Station, then you can take taxi to the foot of Mt. Hengshan, which takes about CNY 30. Also you can walk south in less than 5 minutes from Hengshan Railway Station until you find a mini bus station, you can take bus to Nanyue Scenic Area here, which takes bout CNY 5-6 per person.
Way 2
Take coach from Changsha South Bus Station (Changsha-Nanyue(Mt.Hengshan),长沙-南岳) to Nanyue Bus Station. Besides, some travel agency do have call-and-stop tourist bus and pick you up from your hotel to Mt. Hengshan. Meanwhile, you can take our private car and guide services, which will save plenty of your time and energy. (Changsha-Nanyue Mt.Hengshan Scenic Area is about 150 kilometers, which means you have to stay in the bus about two and a half hours).

Back to Changsha From Mt. Hengshan
The Nanyue Coach station is just located across the Nanyue Hengshan Memorial Archway(0.3 kilometers). The latest shift starts at 17:30.
Touring the Mt. Hengshan
You can take tourist bus or taxi from the foot of Mt. Hengshan to Mirror Grinding Terrace or Half-Hill Pavilion
The cable car in Mt.Hengshan Scenic Area is started from Xuandu Taoist Temple to South Heavenly Gate in the lengthof 1710.8 meters.

5. Mt. Hengshan Souvenir

There are two souvenir markets located on the Zhurong Peak, the highest peak of Mt. Hengshan, they are Zhurong Peak Souvenir Market and Yucheng Mountain Villa Shopping Market, selling tourist handicrafts and religious products. Besides, there is a street with bamboo houses behind the Nanyue Damiao Temple selling religious handicrafts. Moreover, on Zhurong North Road in Hengyang city, there is a Nanyue Tourist essential handicrafts, selling root caving, bizarre stone, bonsai, flowers and plants etc.
